We all know that cancer only survives in an acidic body, and in fact, an acidic body is at the root of all disease.
But what does that really mean?
There is enormous confusion in the "health and wellness" community as to the acid/alkaline issue. Most people understand that it is important to stay as alkaline as possible, but they are not clear on the science.
There are two forces at work that can disrupt the pH of your bodily fluids: the acid or alkaline-forming effects of foods and liquids that you consume, and acids generated through regular metabolic activities.
Fortunately, our bodies have 3 built-in systems that regulate blood pH and help prevent it from going outside of the optimum 7.35 to 7.45 range:
1. A buffering system
2. Exhalation of Carbon Dioxide
3. Elimination of Hydrogen Ions through your kidneys.
These systems can do the job of keeping us within range from the occasional day of acidic eating or toxic stress. However, if you spend years eating a poor diet that is acid-forming, your buffering systems become weakened to where they cannot perform their functions. So it is a cumulative effect.
If you eat a piece of chicken one week, you will not be in trouble. If your diet includes animal meat every week, eventually, you will find yourself in a health-compromised situation.
If you drink a cup of coffee in the morning, it’s not the end of the world. Drink 3-4 cups a day for years on end, you will again find yourself in a compromised situation.
Now, as far as foods and drinks that you consume, it is the END PRODUCTS of digestion and the assimilation of nutrients that result in either an acid or alkaline-forming effect – also referred to as acid ash or alkaline ash, not the pH of the food itself.
So, while a lemon is an acidic substance in and of itself, it produces an alkaline forming effect in your body.
Ever heard that eating meat leeches calcium from your bones? Here’s how that happens. One of the buffer systems used to regulate blood pH, the phosphate buffer system, uses phosphate ions in your body to neutralize strong acids and bases.
85% of those phosphate ions used comes from calcium phosphate salts, which are the structural components of bones and teeth. So when your body fluids are regularly exposed to acid-forming foods and liquids, your body is forced to draw from the calcium phosphate reserves in order to neutralize the acid-forming effects of your diet.
Over time, this can lead to weak bones and teeth. It also increases the amount of calcium that is eliminated through urine, which is why acid-forming animal protein-heavy diets increase the risk of developing kidney stones.
5 EASY TIPS TO STAY ALKALINE!
1. DRINK LEMON WATER BEFORE DOING ANYTHING ELSE. I start each day with 1 glass of pure water with ½ lemon squeezed. Lemon water has an extremely alkaline effect in the body. We go through huge bowl-fulls of lemons every week. Also, tap water has chlorine which is extremely acidic, so only drink pure water.
2. GREEN DRINK EVERY MORNING BEFORE ANY FOOD. While I am drinking my lemon juice, I am making a green juice. Lemon Water and Green Juice I do every single morning without fail. If I am traveling, I bring along my Vitamineral Green and mix that in some water if I can’t get fresh green juice.
3.AVOID MEAT, DAIRY, WHEAT AND REFINED SUGAR (which would include any packaged foods that contain those ingredients) FOUR OF THE MOST ACIDIC SUBSTANCES YOU CAN PUT IN YOUR BODY.
4.CONSUME PLENTY OF FRESH FRUITS: Although most fruits have an acid pH before they are eaten, they have an alkaline effect on the body after metabolism. Fruits that make the highly alkaline list include lemons, limes, honeydew, mango, pineapple, kiwi, pears, raisins, apples, apricots, bananas, grapefruit, nectarines and oranges. Many of these fruits are citrus and highly acidic prior to being eaten but leave an alkaline ash in the body after metabolism.
5.FIND A PRACTICE THAT REDUCES STRESS: Stress causes extreme changes in your blood pH over time. So, whether it’s daily meditation, a quiet walk in the evening, or painting landscapes, it is truly important to do something that relaxes and distressed your mind.
